Fire-escape Mentality in the Church

Discern the Lie

This post found on the Five Doves website reveals just how far off the "rapture" crowd really is. They insist on using extra-biblical methods to try to figure God out with dreams, bible codes, numerology, calendar dates, and in this case the failed prediction of a man who admittedly fabricated his story. Then, when their predictions don't deliver as advertised, they come up excuses and rationalizations to justify their error followed by an even more bizarre prediction that is based on how they figured out where they were wrong on the previously failed prediction. It's a viscous circle of prediction, failed prediction, excuse, and revised prediction that never ends with these folks. The sad thing is, they are doing it in the name of God, not realizing the damage they are inflicting to His kingdom on the earth. They have been blinded to the fact that God has a purpose for the lives of believers here on earth now that involves more that sitting around waiting for some "fire-escape" ladder to come and rescue them from future suffering. By focusing on a mythical event only recently concocted by false teachers in the church during the last 150 years or so, that cannot even be proven in the Scriptures when studied with sound hermeneutics, they are wasting away the opportunities that He has for them and damaging the testimony of Jesus in the earth.

Read some of the books listed on the recommended resources link of this website to get a clear understanding of what God is doing in this generation and then give yourself wholeheartedly to His purpose instead of sitting around waiting for the myth of the "rapture" to magically whisk you away from your greatest opportunity to make a difference that will affect eternity for yourself and those you influence for God's glory.

Bible Code Hermeneutics

Discern the Lie

Rather than using the revealed Word of God to discern a matter, the authors of this article resort to looking for hidden "codes" in the Scriptures to sanction false practices in the church today. In this case, the rebellion of Judge Moore which clearly violates Paul's admonition in Romans 13:1-7 is justified in the name of God by using a system of interpreting God's Word that is not authorized by God in His Word.

2 Timothy 3:16 says that "Scripture is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." It doesn't say that the hidden codes found by manipulating the characters in the original manuscripts is profitable for any of those things.

This is no more than a clever snare of the enemy to convince belivers to think something is Scriptural when it really is not.

Salvation is "From Sin" Not "To Sin"

Discern the Lie

The author of this post found on the Five Doves website is teaching false doctrine. He is presenting a gospel that cheapens God's grace in that it gives people license to continue in sin following their conversion.

Please follow this link to view a list of Scriptures
that show that what he is teaching is NOT a correct exegesis of Scriptures in the context of the New Testament.

Has the "American Inquisition" Begun?

Discern the Lie

This article presents a major issue about whether or not Christians should be involved in politics in any form. (It is NOT against the law, by the way, to acknowleged God in Alabama or America - at least not yet.) Evidently, it is illegal for a judge to allow his religious beliefs to interfere with his duty as a judge. Judge Moore has decided that it is a violation of his conscience to follow the mandates of the courts and so he must be willing to suffer the consequences for his actions. But he MUST do so in a spirit of humility and Christ-likeness and not in an attitude of belligerent, right-demanding superiority. No doubt, as a follower of Jesus, he SHOULD acknowkedge God - but then he should also be ready to suffer for it when the world hates him as it hated Jesus for the things which He did.

Let's face it - this is a godless nation. Legislating morality doesn't change hearts and nor does forcing God down the throats of the godless. In fact it tends to drive them farther away. We as Christians MUST respond as Jesus taught and as the early Church acted in the Scriptures. We also have to remember that God is sovereign and He is not dependent or limited by this nations drift away from Him. History testifies that the suffering that comes to the church as a result of persecution will make her more pure and spotless and therefore bring Him more glory than she brings Him now in her self-gratifying, carnal state.

We think that we have to force our godless government to "acknowledge God" and it just isn't going to happen. It is corrupt from the core of the men's hearts who lust for it's power. We must remind ourselves that the kingdom of God is within us. The early Church did not try to christianize Rome. It wasn't until Rome was christianized that the Church lost it's power, and influence in the earth. The Church's involvement in politics brings only corruption and compromise to the body of Christ. True followers of Jesus have no business or Scriptural grounds for being involved in politics. Even the act of voting for the lesser of two evil candidates in hopes that they will somehow act righteously after they've been elected goes against the spirit of the kingdom of God. When the Church starts to trust God rather than in politics then she will see God's hand move in this land. It may not be the way we like it, but dying to self and taking up the cross has never been easy.

In God We Do Not Trust

Know the Truth

This news story does a lot to reveal how far the church has fallen from a position of simple trust in God and His sovereignty to a position of self-reliance and rebellion. We somehow think that this country will be saved by a concrete statue of the 10 Commandments. Do we really believe that by locking the "idol" in a closet, that God is being locked away from influencing this nation?

We violate the true spirit of Jesus Christ by our rebellion and demand for rights. Have we not yet read and understood the gospels where an underlying theme of Jesus' message was that if you follow Him, you have no rights? Have we forgotten that it is not through the kingdoms of this world that salvation comes, but through the kingdom of God and His Spirit which is not of this world? Placing that stone symbol in public view will do absolutely nothing for the kingdom of God. On the contrary, demanding that it remain there and breaking the law to force the issue does much damage to the kingdom of God on the earth as the church once again declares before the watching world that "Our God is not able." Do we really think that any wicked hearts are going to be changed by forcing this stone idol down the public's throat while we blatantly disregard God's command to submit to all authority and violate the spirit of Christianity by demanding our rights?

Judge Moore has made this about himself and his right to "acknowledge God as the source of our law and our liberty..." while the court has made it clear that "...It is not a case about the public display of the Ten Commandments in the State Judicial Building nor the acknowledgement of God." Does Judge Moore think that by misrepresenting the truth he will accomplish the purposes of the Spirit of Truth? It's no wonder that the world hates the so-called Christian Right. The blatant hypocrisy never stops emanating from that group. As a follower of Jesus Christ, I would like to stand up and say that they do NOT represent the God of the Bible, nor the true Church of Jesus Christ in the earth.

Since the Scriptures are clear that it is God Who appoints civil governmental leaders (Romans 13:1-7), you can be sure that it is God Who has removed Judge Moore from his position as chief justice, and not Alabama's nine-member Court of the Judiciary.

Governmental Authority

Know the Truth

Here is my response regarding the issue of Governmental Authority. I am also sending this response to the Five Doves website.

Apostate Religious Leaders From God?

Discern the Lie

Sean replied to my post below from yesterday on the Five Doves website.""Re: Sean Lewis "Re: President Bush"" From his response it appears that he has concluded that I believe religious leaders in apostate Christianity are appointed by God. Nothing is farther from the truth.

I am preparing a reply to clarify what I see to be the Scriptural position on governmental authority.

Know the Truth

I posted a reply on the Five Doves website to the gentleman who stated that it was a misconception that God appoints all leaders to rule in governmental authority using Hosea 8:4 to prove his position. Here is my Response.

Sovereignly Appointed by God.

Discern the Lie

In this post on Five Doves website, the poster leave one to doubt whether governmental leaders are always set up by God. The Scriptures clearly teach that all civil governmental leaders are sovereignly appointed by God.

I am preparing a response which will be posted tomorrow on the Five Doves website and referenced here.
